April Ross
April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball players to have won medals more than once at an Olympics. Alix-Klineman will be competing with April Ross in Tokyo in order to claim her third gold medal in the next few days. Ross's goal is to win her first Olympic gold medal. This may be the last time she has the chance as she is 39 years old. The athlete is optimistic she will be able to win top awards. Ross was quoted by NBC Boston as saying that when you perform at your very best, even if you do well, we'll get the gold. Additionally, I'm going put my faith in a touch of luck. Ross born in 1982, and grew up in Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started participating in sports at Newport Harbor High School. While at Newport Harbor High School, she was a participant in many activities. She played basketball and ran track, in addition to her indoor volleyball exploits as a prep athlete. When she played in the final sport she was clearly the standout. In her time at the high school level in her university bio, she was an outside-hitter, middle blocker and setter. In recognition of her work she was awarded an 1999 Gatorade Champion of Champions Circle of Champions Player of the Year. Her skills in volleyball brought her an Orange County Athlete of the Awards in 2000. Ross and Klineman have been performing their roles in the year 2017. But, Ross was a major player on the beach volleyball circuit before joining the duo. She has won major tournaments twice with different partners. One of them has become an iconic player in the volleyball world. She teamed up with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and also was Klineman's trainer. Kessy was Ross's partner on the World Championships in 2009. They were awarded a silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the team that could take home the gold. Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's resignation. In 2016, the duo took bronze at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross was a Trojans player for the USC in her college years before becoming a professional. And her run in the Trojans' ranks was one to remember. She was an All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in 2000 as a young freshman. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans get to the Final Four. She was devastated through a tragedy in her life during her second year, but she was able to make it an All-American once more. In the two years she played for the Trojans, she helped them to win two consecutive titles. In 2003-2004, she was named the top female volleyball player on the collegiate scene in the United States according to The Honda Sports Award. Ross was a student of International Relations at USC. Margie Ross didn't get to witness Ross reach beach volleyball's highest level. When Ross was a sophomore at USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. Ross is still awed by her late parent. Margie has always been a source of inspiration for her both on and off the beach.
